Compton, CA – A shooting is being investigated by homicide detectives after deputies shot a man January 4 as reported by CBSLA.com.
Around 8:30 p.m., a man made a report to deputies abut a man pointing a gun at him earlier in the day.
Deputies found the suspect sitting in the drivers seat of a white Infiniti. When the suspect saw the police, he got out holding a gun.
He ran to the other side of the car, using it as a shield between himself and the police. Aiming his gun at the deputies, they started shooting.
The suspect was shot once in the lower torso but was able to run away from the shooting scene. Police found him in the front yard of a home after police set up a perimeter search.
The car that the suspect was in was reported stolen last year.
Police continue to investigate.
